How to Remove Old Decals
Old car decals, stripe kits, sunstrips, and even caliper decals can be removed safely with the right approach. Whether they're on a Fiesta ST-Line, BMW M Sport, Audi S-Line A3/A4/A5, or a JDM-styled build, the process is simple and paint-safe when done properly.
- Warm the vinyl
Use a hairdryer or heat gun on a low setting. A little heat softens the adhesive and makes the decal - whether its a caliper decal, or suntrip - much easier to lift.
- Peel Back Slowly
Start at a corner and peel the vinyl away at a low angle. If it starts to resist or tear add more heat and take your time. This works for body graphics and smaller pieces like caliper stickers.
- Remove Any Leftover Adhesive
A bit of residue is normal. Use isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or a adhesive remover. Wipe gently with a microfiber cloth until the surface is clean.
Proper removal prevents scratches, ghosting, and peeling when you fit new graphics - whether thats ST-Line side skirt stickers, M Sport decals, Audi S-Line graphics, JDM sunstrips, or new caliper decals, follow this guide for long-lasting performance.
